Coverage
Three photo galleries, a handful of interviews and race videos from morning races on the campus of Canyon Crest Academy.
For the second consecutive week, El Camino (SD) junior Omar Reyes rolled to victory in a San Diego Section-based cross country invitational. Reyes set a Junior Class course record of 14:34.20 over the 3-mile campus layout at Canyon Crest Academy to win the Varsity Boys Invitational race at the CCA Ravens Invitational. Reyes ran even with Liberty Charter senior Micah Sanchez for most of the race until pulling away late. Sanchez placed second in 14:47.10 with Mt. Carmel senior Tom Bell third in 15:02.10. Reyes broke the class CR of 14:52.74 set by Sage Creek's Bryce Gilmore in 2020. Kenan Pala of Francis Parker hold the course record at 14:11.11 set last fall.
Freshman Chiara Dailey, in her first cross country race for La Jolla High, won the Varsity Girls 3-Mile race on an increasingly warm morning at the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens Invitational. Her time of 17:07.20 over the campus layout, set a Freshman Class course record and fell just short of the course record of 17:05.99 set by Mallory Asis of Mira Mesa in 2021. Junior Kirra Fisk made it a 1-2 finish for La Jolla as she crossed in 17:23.00 to hold off La Costa Canyon junior Gioana Lopizzo (17:26.80).
